This week will bring in cold weather (Thanks Sandy), Halloween, and the end of October. But Wednesday starts the beginning of National Novel Writing Month. I first heard about this challenge from a CopyBlogger post How to Write a High Quality eBook in 30 days.
So plain and simple here’s the challenge: Write 50,000 words in 30 days.
Yeah, sounds crazy right. I love books, read them daily, hence this blog. But I have honestly never wanted to write a book. Do I really have a story in me somewhere? Well I don’t know, but I am taking on this challenge. I will complete a fiction novel in 30 days. (Trying to convince myself here)
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) was started in 1999 by Chris Baty and 20 other participants. Last year 256,618 people took on this challenge and 36,843 writers actually achieved the goal. At least three New York Bestseller have been birthed from this undertaking. The website credits Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen as getting its start during NaNoWriMo.
The website has all you need to get started as well as access to people in your area who have also decided to join in.
Is this insane? Will you join me? Let’s write a book! Tell me ya thoughts…..
FYI: This post is 214 words, but whose counting (smile)
